Today is Monday April 11, 2016.  It was much warmer today than yesterday.

We left our apartment around 9:30.  Our plan was  to go to La Madeline Center where the Carrefour hypermarche is located.  We wanted to buy potting soil, a clock for the living room/salon, a knife to chop vegetables, a baking dish to make tarts, and a few additional items that can’t be purchased at local markets/marches. It took us over two hours to read labels, compare items and make our purchases.

As we waited for the bus to return to Intra-Muros we unzipped our jackets as it was much warmer.  Probably the nicest and warmest day we’ve had here so far.

After a quick lunch, we completed a few cleaning chores, then headed off to the beach.

It is school vacation around here for the next two weeks and there were many people enjoying the sun, sand, and low tide.  The sun was out and the temperature was 16 C / 62 F.  We walked up and down the beach, through tide pools, and enjoyed the wonderfully

fresh ocean air.  Sandy really likes to walk around in the shallow water.

There were quite a few small boats out this afternoon.  Children in the boats were learning sailing skills.  There were 3 different types of boats, used for different ages and different skill levels.

We did notice a small shell which was a shade of orange.  As we walked around we spotted two more urchins with the same shell coloring.  No idea what type of sea urchins we saw, but they were pretty.  We tried to use the Google photo search to find a similar photo, but no luck so far.  Will try again tomorrow.

Vendredi 26 septembre a commencé comme une journée fraîche. J’ai magasiné sur le marché intra-muros pour les fruits et légumes. J’ai même eu une brève conversation avec l’homme dont la pomme à utiliser lors d’un crumble de fruits. Au moins je peux poser une question et se référer à la semaine précédente. Nous avons pris le bus pour le supermarché Carrefour à 9 h. Nous cherchions une louche de sauce à utiliser 15181054508_1b7fa67007_bpour le dîner dans la soirée. Il n’était pas disponible! Nous nous sommes installés sur un ensemble de couverts à salade qui avait une cuillère profonde dans le cadre de l’ensemble. Nous avons continué de nettoyage et de redresser l’appartement après avoir les volets installés. Nos amis nous ont rejoints pour le dîner et nous avons eu un très bon moment. Ils sont très gentils et nous profiter de leur compagnie. Ils nous ont apporté un cadeau d’un oiseau (originaire de Petite Be Ile) qui a un bec rouge. Il mange des huîtres. Il ressemble beaucoup au-dessus de l’armoire de divertissement dans notre salon.

Friday September 26 started off as a cool day. I shopped at the Intramural market for fruits and vegetables.  I even had a short conversation with the man about which apple to use when making a fruit crumble.  At least I can ask a question and refer to the previous week.  We took the bus to the Carrefour supermarket at 9 am.  We were looking for a gravy ladle to use for dinner in the evening.  It was not available!  We settled on a set of salad utensils that had a deep spoon as part of the set. We continued cleaning and straightening the apartment after having the shutters installed.  Our friends joined us for dinner and we had a very nice time.  They are very nice and we enjoy their company.  They brought us a gift of a bird (native to Petite Be Island) that has a red beak.  It eats oysters.  It looks great on top of the entertainment cabinet in our living room.
