MONDAY-22nd Misty and damp this morning.  Waited until it stopped and took a walk down rue du soif. Shopped for a couple gifts to take, home.  Found what we wanted, walked through esplanade st. Vincent to look at the sea.  Very low tide, walked back along the quay and entered at porte de Dinan.  The main street was not too badly crowded, so we walked home that way.  Started to mist again and without a breeze, was very warm.

TUESDAY-23rd Walked to and back from the Intermarché Super.  Over an hour of walk round trip plus the 30 min to shop in the store.  Stopped at the boulangerie in Rocabey for buying croissants and a baguette since our boulangerie is closed on Tuesday.

It was supposed to be 100% cloudy and cool.  It was sunny, humid, and very hot!

Walked to the harbor at high tide and watched two fishing boats unload, a “gull buffet” when someone was cleaning fishing nets, an empty tanker arriving to go through the locks and many shuttles.

We took out pizza for dinner and were surprised at all of the people eating at the restaurant. Delicious margherta pizza.

WEDNESDAY-24th Walked to the Solidor Tower part of Saint-Malo , enjoyed a grenadine with water drink and a decent breeze.  Hot walking home. Still many, many people walking and driving around.

Walked to harbor after lunch,  VERY hazy, watched one of the new Condor ferries dock, shuttles come and go, and a huge cruise ship-7 Seas anchored in the bay.

THURSDAY-25th Walked to marché a Rocabey.  Very early and stormy in the night so few vendors due to rain.  We were in and out of the building within 15 minutes.  Butcher, olives, and dropped off empty glass jars at the “ritz au lait (rice pudding)” vendor.

Met our friend Jean-Michel for an Orangina at Bar de L’Ouest.  Spent a nice hour with him.

Bought cat food at Carrefour city and then home.  High temperature of 19°C today.  Paris and Nancy are at 32°C.

FRIDAY-26th Sunny.  It was 16°C when Sandy walked to the boulangerie.  Walked along the Digue to Carrefour market in Coutoisville to buy spray spot remover.  Two other stores had been out for a couple of weeks.  Walked back.  Very windy but sunny.  A lovely reprieve from the heat.  Afternoon walked to say hi to boules players.  Jean-Yves was back after his last child returned to work from vacationing with him.

SATURDAY-27th Walked to the Solider, lovely view, not too hot, returned and watched boats at the harbor.  Still a lot of people around.  Went to the boules court late in the afternoon.  Surprise!  Josette was there.  We hadn’t seen her since 2019 and heard she’d been ill.  She remembered us and it was nice to see her.

SUNDAY-28th Today was a sports day!  There was a half marathon (33rd edition) for runners, that followed the coast between Cancale and Saint-Malo.  Most of the sidewalk to the Digue, Porte St. Vincent, and the Esplanade St. Vincent were blocked off with lanes for the finish of the race.  Also, The Grand Prix de Cezembre regatta was open to all sailing levels and all media: catamaran, windsurf, dinghy, paddle, kayak. The race was to begin at 11:30 (took off around noon) and was from the Plage de la Hoguette to the island of Cezembre and back.  We took our beach chairs, walked through side streets and reached the Digue.  There was a great, fresh wind blowing and we watched a lot of runners go by until the regatta begin.  First the paddle boarders left, then kite surfers, last were the sail boats.  We watched until they were too small to see. Then we returned home.  A very interesting morning.
