Monday-23th morning starts the week with some wind and rain. By the afternoon the rain was gone, but it was still windy.
Tuesday-24th we walked to the new Intermarché Super. It is about a 35 minute walk. Took the bus back.
In the afternoon we got haircuts at the Studio 3 salon. We started getting haircuts here in 2019 and continued in 2021. We both get a consistently great haircut.
Wednesday-25th has been a cloudy and cool day. This morning we walked along the streets inside the ramparts. Nothing specific in mind, just a look around at parts of the town which we typically do not traverse.
We had seen this electric “car” recharging in a parking lot the other day. Today we saw it parked across from a shop we were entering. The Citroën AMI électrique is not considered a car, rather it is quad cycle. A motorcycle with 4 wheels. You can read more at the Wikipedia site.
In the late afternoon, Sophie decided to sit on the back of Sandy’s chair.
THURSDAY-26th we took a morning walk to the marché in Rocabey. There was no rain the in the forecast, but a drizzle was happening throughout the Intra-Muros. We bought some meat, vegetables and fruit at the marché. On the walk back we again encountered the drizzle, this time a couple of hundred meters from the Intra-Muros. But it was enough to get us pretty wet.
FRIDAY-27th we started out early to go to the E. Leclerc Hypermarché. In previous years we took the number 3 bus from Intra-Muros to E. Leclerc. However this year the number 3 does not serve the Intra-Muros. Rather the number 6 is the bus to take. While waiting for the bus Sandy took a few nice pictures of the flowers in the “jardin de douves” which translates to moat garden. I at one time there was a moat around the castle.

SATURDAY-28th we spent the morning at the Salon Nautique. The Salon Nautique was basically a large boat show and carnival. It was held on the quay Surcouf and basin Vauban. There were dozens of boats of all shapes and sizes, nautical boutiques and eateries. Wind surfing exhibitions were held on the basin Vauban. We spent over two hours walking around and had a great time. We went back to the Salon Nautique in the afternoon, but the wind kept us from staying more than a few minutes.
The weather today was great, sunny all day, a high temperature of 18° C (65° F) and no clouds in the sky. The wind was a challenge on the ocean side of the city, but not by the harbor.
SUNDAY-29th and Sandy got surprised by Sophie the cat. As Sandy was leaving the apartment Sophie shot out the door on to the landing. Luckily Sophie had a moment of indecision as to whether to go downstairs or upstairs and in that moment Sandy was able to capture her. It was Sophie’s first successful escape. She had tried a couple of other times but had been thwarted.
Later Sandy had placed Sophie in the kitchen and closed the pocket door. This was to keep Sophie from getting out on the balcony while Sandy was out there. When Sandy came back to the kitchen she could not find the cat. Eventually she found that Sophie had gone into the empty pocket door area to explore. When the pocket door is open she cannot get it there, but with it closed she was able to “go exploring.” Again no harm, but Sandy had her second cat experience of the morning.
On a brighter note, we took a great walk of the breakwater this morning. Cloudy skies turned to bright blue and the wind was not a problem.
On the way back to the apartment we stopped for lunch at a pizza place near the apartment. We had a delicious lunch on the terrace of the restaurant enjoying the sunshine.

Great pictures. Loved the ones of the little “car” and the wind surfer too. I can see that “car” here in Holland. Easy to get around in. Glad the weather is getting warmer for you. Getting a lot warmer here too. Your rain helps all of the gardens to flourish. Loved the pictures of all of the flowers. And Sophie—she’s becoming quite the explorer. Keeping you busy !! Take care and love reading about your daily adventures !! Nelda
