Wednesday May 18 is forecasted to be day with a 100% chance of rain.  We will see.

The day starts out with rain for most of the morning. So we worked on homework and other activities around the apartment.  Our friend Jean from the 4th floor stopped by to say hello and to invite us for an apéro (aperitif) this afternoon at 17:00.  Something to look forward to!

In the afternoon the sun was shining.   We only had one real errand, to get some bread at the boulangerie.  So we decided to take a walk and see what was happening in the harbor before getting the bread.  So what happens as soon as we get 50 meters from the apartment? It starts to rain just a bit.  As there was zero percent chance of rain at the time, we decided to continue on in hopes it would stop quickly.  Well it did not stop, in fact it started to rain a little harder.  We did not stop at the harbor, but rather continued on to the boulangerie to pick up some bread.  The shop was very crowded, but Sandy got our bread and a treat for breakfast.  On to the apartment, where by the time we got back it had stopped raining.  As you might expect!

At 17:00 we headed up the stairs to Jean and Denise’s apartment for an apero.  They had some nice snacks to nibble on, cashews, pretzels, crackers, and potato chips.  Phil had some port wine (porto) for his drink and Sandy had Pineau des Charentes.  Denise would like to brush up on her English, so she asked Sandy to help her.  While Sandy is learning French, Denise would like to improve her English so she can better communicate with Sandy.  Very nice of her!
