La Maison Du Québec À Saint-Malo vous propose de nombreuses manifestations culturelles. La nuit dernière, ils ont montré la comèdie Cinéma Bon Cop Bad Cop. Une trentaine de personnes était dans la fréquentation et la moitié d’entre eux semblait être du même âge. Peut-être un professeur fait la visualisation ce film une exigence de cours. Le parle d’acteurs en Français et en anglais avec sous-titres Français. Ils ont utilisé les sous-titres Français, parce que certains des mots utilisés sont le Français canadien, n’est pas « vrai » Français. Nous avons vécu la même chose l’année dernière puisque certaines les Malouins s’est plaint le cinéaste n’utilise pas de « vrai » Français. Il était facile de comprendre le film, et je comprenais près de la moitié des mots. Encore une amélioration possible cependant. 

Nous avons quitté notre appartement de 08:30 ce matin pour attraper le 08:40 bus. La température était d’only 12C et venteux — certainement veste météo. J’ai même porté une paire de gants ! Nous sommes arrivés au Carrefour supermarche à 09:05. C’était la grande lutte ne pas les autres automobilistes et avoir à trouver un endroit pour garer la voiture. Nous avons été magasiner pour les nouveaux poêles et casseroles à utiliser sur notre table de cuisson Induction. TEFAL marque nous a été recommandé par un ami, mais il n’était pas beaucoup de choix pour l’utiliser avec l’Induction. Plusieurs zones ont été étiquetés “pas pour l’induction”. Nous avons trouvé ce que nous voulions et a procédé à chercher d’autres éléments qui ne sont pas disponibles dans le Carrefour intra-muros. Quel désastre! L’approvisionnement total d’éléments dans le supermarche Carrefour ont été relocalisées. Il y avait beaucoup d’employés avec chariots pleins de situation changeante de marchandise. Nous pouvions nous rappeler l’emplacement des éléments souhaités depuis les deux derniers étés, mais les choses ont changé ! Nous avons décidé d’essayer E.Leclerc supermarche lundi et Carrefour supermarche de donner une autre semaine pour terminer le déplacement. Nous nous sommes arrêtés au marché intra-muros pour fraises, petites pommes de terre, laitue, tomates, carottes et olives. Les olives noires dénoyautées et de conserves que nous achetons dans une boîte goût comme carton contre les olives fraîches nous pouvons acheter ici. Après le déjeuner, nous avons pris une promenade le long du port et suis tombé sur un groupe d’élèves âgés de 7 à 9 ans sur un voyage scolaire. Après avoir pris beaucoup d’étudiants lors de « excursions » aux USA comme un enseignant à la retraite maintenant, j’ai expérience traitant des élèves enthousiastes. J’ai pris des étudiants au tombeau de Lincoln et la maison, Chicago, aux parcs, le zoo et même une porcherie. Le groupe d’étudiants que nous avons vu venait de rentrer de la voile sur l’océan. Ils étaient tout excités ! Vivant à proximité de l’océan avec toutes les tailles et types de bateaux disponibles donne « excursions » un tout nouveau sens. Nous nous arrêtâmes à notre pâtisserie préférée pour acheter quelque chose pour le dessert. Phil a choisi un Mille-fleure connu aux USA comme un Napoléon. Il a brandi son doigt pointeur et dit en Français « Mille-un fleure s’il vous plaît “. La dame m’a regardé, qui s’est tenue vers le haut de son pouce et a demandé « un » ? J’ai ri et a dit « Oui ». Au moins, elle a demandé. L’année dernière j’ai fait la même chose et il m’a fallu un certain temps pour comprendre pourquoi j’ai payé le double du prix et fini avec deux pâtisseries dans mon sac. Les Français utilisent le pouce pour désigner le numéro un. Phil et j’ai ri aussi.

The La Maison Du Québec À Saint-Malo offers many cultural events. Last night they showed the comèdie Cinéma Bon Cop Bad Cop. About 30 people were in attendance and half of them appeared to be the same age. Possibly a Professor made viewing this movie a course requirement. The actors spoke in both French and English with French subtitles. They used the French subtitles because some of the words used are French Canadian, not “true” French. We experienced the same last year since some of the Malouins complained about the film maker not using “true” French. It was easy to understand the movie, and I could understand about half of the words. Still room for improvement though.

We left our apartment by 8:30 this morning to catch the 8:40 bus. The temperature was only12 C and windy—definitely jacket weather. I even wore a pair of gloves! We arrived at Carrefour supermarche at 9:05. It was great not fighting other car drivers and having to find a place to park the car. We were shopping for new pots and pans to use on our Induction cooktop. Tefal brand was recommended to us by a friend, but there weren’t many choices to use with Induction. Several boxes were labeled “not for induction”. We found what we wanted and proceeded to pick up other items that are not available in the intramural Carrefour. What a disaster! The entire supply of items in the Carrefour supermarche were being relocated. There were many employees with carts full of merchandise changing location. We could remember the location of desired items from the last two summers, but things had changed! We decided to try E.Leclerc supermarche on Monday and give Carrefour supermarche another week to finish moving. We stopped at the intramural marché for strawberries, small potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and olives. The canned and pitted black olives that we buy in a can taste like cardboard compared to the fresh olives we can buy here. After lunch we took a walk along the harbor and came across a group of 7-9 year old students on a school trip. Having taken many students on “field trips” in the USA as a now retired teacher, I have experience dealing with excited students. I took students to Abraham Lincoln’s tomb and home, Chicago, to parks, the zoo, and even a pig farm. The group of students that we saw had just returned from sailing on the ocean. They were really excited! Living close to the ocean with all sizes and kinds of boats readily available gives “field trips” a whole new meaning. We stopped at our favorite patisserie to buy something for dessert. Phil chose a Mille-fleure known in the USA as a Napoleon. He held up his pointer finger and said in French “one Mille-fleure please”. The lady looked at me, held up her thumb and asked “un”? I laughed and said “Oui”. At least she asked. Last year I did the same thing and it took me awhile to realize why I paid double the price and ended up with two pastries in my bag. The French use the thumb to refer to the number one. Phil and I laughed too
